Summer is flying away

I've been busy since moving to my new apartment in late June. As everything settled, Mickey's in town. I can't believe summer is gone so quickly. The date that friends and I went to see the musical "Peter Pan" seems just yesterday. I remembered I really wanted to write something about it, but totally forgot about this blog later on. Glad that I finally have a relaxing moment to complete an article (or you can say it's a tally) here.

After moving in to the new place, thank to Monica who helped me unpacked things so that Mickey has good place to stay later on. And of course, Mickey arrived in Pittsburgh on time and safely. So far he seems to like Pittsburgh although this city is not big. The best thing is that he does the dishes for me...(maybe this is a brother's duty, Ha!) After leaving home since high school, I didn't have much more chances to stay with Mickey in a house. He had his own activities and I had mine. I was afraid that we might fight a lot. But it turned out that he is still that sweet and warm-hearted brother.

In the end of August, Martha got married. I am so happy she finds her Mr. Right, Dan. We were honored to be invited to their wedding. Mickey went with me to their service. We were struggling in tying the necktie for Mickey for 10 minutes. Poor May had to try more than 5 times to come up with a better-looking necktie. I learned four-in-hand knot method in hight school, but haven't practiced it since leaving the chorus. Not only Mickey wore his tie, I also dressed up. This event was the first shot for Mickey to explore Pittsburgh. Although he didn't go with me to the reception in the evening, he was forced to adjust jet lag by playing basketball with friends.

Since I just start my work being a postdoc, nothing is easy for me. In this term, I have to co-teach two courses with the professors and sit in a neuroscience class. In addition to grade the students' assignments, I have to write papers as many as possible. Well, I think I like this position so far, while I really need more sleeping time or take more vitamins to keep my brain awake. Next term, I am going to help on a course that I always dream about to teach. I may get a little bit nervous ahead of time, but I think I will enjoy it. Lastly, I am expecting the trip to King of Prussia for a conference in early Oct. Hope this will be a pleasant trip.

Here comes a long wish list for my entertaining activities....musicacals like "Wicked" and "I love you, you're perfect, now change"; Concerts like "Lang-Lang" or "Jashua Bell"; trips to Mt Washiongton (Pitt's night view) and Fallingwater; movies like "Harry Potter" and "The curious case of Benjamin Button" or "Red Cliff (Chinese)"; books like "the last lecture (shame on me...I am still reading the chapter 4)" and "the kite runner"
Hope I can check off all the above items in the end of this year. (finger crossed)

Last but not the least, Congratulate to 通 (we always call her nickname "tong") because she is going to get married in December. She is my classmate in college. We were doing our internship at the same hospital. She is a brilliant girl and a fun person to get along with. I believe that her fiance must be a lucky guy. I hope I am able to make it to attend her wedding in Taiwan. Best wishes to you, my friend!! <3 <3 <3

p.s. I was getting so excited like a child when "Peter Pan" was flying on the stage. The amazing fact is that the artist (Cathy Rigby) has performed Peter Pan for 17 years (see the link below).......
I am Flying - by Cathy Rigby (Peter Pan)
JOHN:"Can you really fly?"
PETER:"I'll teach you."

PETER and CHILDREN:
I'm flying
(Flying, flying, flying)
Look at me way up high,
Suddenly here am I
I'm flying.

I'm flying
(Flying, flying, flying)
I can soar
I can weave and what's more
I'm not even trying

High up, and as light as I can be.
I must be a sight lovely to see.

I'm flying.
(Flying, flying, flying)
Nothing will stop me now:
Higher still look at how
I can zoom around,
'Way up off the ground
I'm flying.

I fly and I'm all over the place
You try and you fall flat on your face

I'm flying.
(Flying, flying, flying)
Over bed, over chair
Duck your head, clear the air
Oh, what lovely fun
Watch me everyone
Take a look at me
A see how easily it's done
I'm flying!

CHILDREN:
Oh, teach us Peter, please, teach us!

PETER PAN:
First I must blow the fairy dust on you!
(blows)
Shhh...
Shhh...
Shhh...
Now think lovely thoughts

ALL:
Think lovely thoughts
Think lovely thoughts
Fishing
Hoopskirt
Candy!

Picnics
Summer
Candy!

Sailing
Flowers
Candy!

Lovelier thoughts, Michael!

Christmas?!

PETER PAN:
Ah, ah, flying!
Like an owl, like a bat,
Or the crow,
It's so satisfying!

I'm whizzing
Through a cloud
Past the star
I'm so proud
Look how far I breeze in
High over the moon
Higher I fly
By old mister moon
Wave me goodbye

I'm flying.
(Flying, flying, flying)
Heading far out of sight
Second star to the right
Now the way is clear
Never Land is near
Follow all the air
Cause I'm about to disappear
I'm flying!
